Jumbo The Elephant

Our robot is an elephant. We use two wheels and a ball caster to make the robot move. The two wheels are attached to two motors and these are triggered by the touch sensor. While the sensor is pressed down, the two motors with the two wheels attached rotate and the elephant moves forward. Once the touch sensor is released the elephant stops moving. The trunk, which is controlled by another motor moves up and down when the ultrasonic sensor is triggered by putting a hand in front of it.

We used LabView to program our robot. The two while loops allows the motors to be triggered repeatedly while the program is still running. We were able to make the trunk move up and down be timing the movement and speed of the motor, and then reversing the direction once the trunk moved all the way up or down.

One draw back to this robot is that it is not very durable. It took us a while to figure out a structure, and it is a stable enough design but probably not 100% durable. The axils and beams were limited in size for us to try and use as supports.
